We list all dogs owned or co-owned by us. We purposefully keep our kennels downsized so that all dogs get individual attention and lots of love and the best well care our money can buy. Sometimes we gift our six or seven year old altered adults to a home where they don't have to compete for attention. These homes get a well-trained well-socialized dog to join their family. Most of our Aussies, however, retire here in the lap of luxury, spoiled rotten into their golden years enjoying the ambiance of the ranch life. All get individual attention & love daily. We are a family of three adults and one junior handler. Someone is always home to tend to the dogs and the ranch. Please come visit us if you are in our vacinity.
You'll hear quality over quantity. We believe in both!! Quality of well care, feed, training, time, environment, family, opportunity, genetics, ... and quantity of love, feedback, time, support, opportunity and education. We are members of Ask Tell (hit the link on the left), participating in breed studies and disclosing genetic issues. As you probably noted, we are also judges, clinitians, authors, and mentors.
We don't breed often so you'll have to check in periodically to see if we have a litter planned or on the ground. Normally you'll find we have one litter per year (periodically we'll have two). Most pups are booked well in advance of any whelping. Our breeding stock and competition partners have hips & elbows certified, eyes cleared, periodically thyroids checked, plus all breeding stock here is DNA'd certified or verified. Pup's eyes are cleared prior to them going to their new homes and if dna'd, the parentage will be verified. Our Questionnaire is mandatory to be considered for one of our pups or adults. All pups and adults are sold, placed or co-owned on our Buy/Sell Contract.
Please understand we breed for high drive, temperament, attitude, bidability, and workability with sound structure. We are a family who understands this breed and values its rich history. Aussies are not a breed meant for every doglover or dogowner.
Be sure that you have educated yourself about this breed, prior to adding one to your family. We encourage you to check out our links page. Please learn about the breed we have come to love and to which we have happily dedicated our time, love and money.
Please, if you add an Aussie to your family, give it quality of life and if you cannot, please give it back to the breeder or contact Aussie Rescue (see our links page) for assistance if you don't know who the breeder is for your Aussie. Understand that your Aussie will be a reflection of its genetics and your environment, the time you and your family spend with it, the opportunities you afford it, the socialization, training and exposure you provide, the parameters you set, the wellcare you supply, and the commitment you make to love it. Make it a lifetime commitment:)
We have a chatlist for our puppy owners and stud users plus other interested Aussie-lovers. Here one can share training tips, get advice on health issues, grooming tips, showing tips, and share brags, stories, and educational information. An Aussie-friend is just an email away:)

HOW WE CARE FOR OUR DOGS
PLEASE BE ADVISED (LEGENDS & STARN CONCUR WITH THESE STATEMENTS):
Australian Shepherd Club of America: "The Miniature Australian Shepherd, North American Shepherd, North American Miniature Australian Shepherd, and/or Toy Australian Shepherd breeds are not recognized as a variety of Australian Shepherd by ASCA. The club considers such dogs to be a distinct and separate breed and will not accept them into its registry. "Our bylaws state that ASCA's purpose is: 'To encourage members and breeders to accept one breed standard for the Australian Shepherd as approved by the Club as the only standard of excellence by which Australian Shepherds shall be judged.' It is the mission of this club and the mission of its members to preserve the breed rather than change it."
United States Australian Shepherd Association: "Recently there has been a rise in the movement to breed miniature and toy versions of the Australian Shepherd. The Miniature Australian Shepherd and the Toy Australian Shepherd are not recognized or considered varieties of the Australian Shepherd by this organization, the United States Australian Shepherd Association, Inc.(USASA), or by the American Kennel Club (AKC). Since these dogs are not AKC registered, they cannot be verified by USASA as purebred, and therefore are not considered Australian Shepherds by this organization. The USASA does not support the purposeful breeding of Miniature Australian Shepherds and Toy Australian Shepherds, and expects all members who have breeding programs to breed to the USASA/AKC recognized standard of excellence. The USASA further expects all members to be ever vigilant in the preservation and protection of the Australian Shepherd."
